What each stretch is for
Sessions 1 to 3: listening
Tawanda hears the whole picture from each of you, together and apart, before she suggests anything.
Session 4: the plan
She says what she has noticed and proposes how to work. You decide together what comes first.
Sessions 5 and 6: starting
The joint work on the breach begins, and you look at whether it is helping and how often to meet.
Questions about this order
A few things couples ask.
Does it always go this way?
No. It is the usual order. If one of you is not ready for a one-on-one, or the plan needs another joint session first, Tawanda changes it with you.
What happens to what I say alone?
Before the second session Tawanda gives you her policy in writing. You decide what to say after you have read it.
What if we want to stop after one?
You can stop at any time. The first session ends with the two of you deciding whether to go on.
