For two people who want to find out whether trust can be rebuilt
Who it helps, and what the sessions are like.
Couples therapy at Harbor is for partners who have been through an affair, a secret or a broken promise and are still talking to each other, even if barely. You do not have to agree about the future. You both have to come.
Sessions are eighty minutes, in the office or by video. The first six follow an order Tawanda explains in the first visit, with a one-on-one session for each of you near the start. Your fee for sessions is given in writing before you begin; How fees work explains it.
Tawanda sets the length and frequency of the work with you. She does not promise a number of sessions and does not predict an outcome.
How the work is done, and what it is not
A structured conversation
Tawanda keeps the talk about the breach from turning into a trial, and slows it down when it gets too fast.
Time for each of you
Each of you is heard in a one-on-one session, so that neither of you carries the room alone.
Not a verdict
Tawanda does not decide who is to blame or whether you stay together. That stays with the two of you.
Not for every couple
If you are afraid of your partner, this is not the place to begin. Write to us and we will point you to people who can help.
If you need help now
Three questions
Do we both have to come?
Yes. The work is with the two of you, with one-on-one sessions inside it.
Can we do it by video?
Yes, if you are both in Virginia during the session. Tell us when you write.
How is it paid?
You pay each session yourselves. We give you a monthly receipt for a plan that reimburses, and your fee is in writing before you start.
Ready to write to us?
Tell us what times suit you both. Fees are explained in writing before you start.
